What maintenance is required on the cladding?
All our garden rooms with natural wood exteriors are designed not to require any form of maintenance or staining as they all weather down naturally. If, however, you wish to preserve the colour, then we recommend a UV protection oil like Osmo is applied every couple of years. If your garden room features composite cladding from Millboard, then it doesn’t require any maintenance and is guaranteed for 25 years.
What is the lifespan of your garden rooms, and do you provide a warranty?
Our garden rooms are designed to last for at least 25 years and come with a 10-year structural guarantee. Plus, the rubber (EPDM) roofing system of our garden rooms has an expected life of 50-years, backed by a 20-year guarantee. Other features such as windows, doors, flooring and lighting come with their own manufacturer’s warranties for additional peace of mind.
Will my building require any maintenance?
Your building will require no maintenance at all unless you wish to oil your timber cladding. This oiling is not necessary and is a personal preference, but it will help prevent oxidation, which turns the timber a silvery grey. Cleaning the garden building with a hose, water and brush is enough. If you have trees nearby the guttering at the rear will need clearing on occasions. Other than this though there is no maintenance required. If you want to oil your building we recommend a UV protective oil.
Is it possible to have opening windows in the side walls?
Yes – we can discuss these options with you.
Can I install air conditioning?
Yes, Can we recommend an air conditioning unit. The answer is No. We have no preferred supplier of air conditioning units and he will help and advise you on these.
Can I fit blinds?
YES, we have many customers who have installed blinds throughout their building. Most of our rooms come with the options to include factory fitted blinds, We can also recommend someone to fit blinds? Yes. We have a couple of preferred suppliers of blinds.
Can I get more technical data?
In relation to the frames, glazing, polycarbonate roof, tile effect roof, roof glazing, door and window locks? YES, all documents are freely available upon request. Please email us at Paul@intothegardenroom.com requesting the information you require.
Can I hang pictures on the walls?
The simple answer is yes, but we may need to strengthen and understand weights etc

Are you able to add verandas to your garden room?
A veranda can be an excellent addition to a garden room. If you would like to add a veranda, just let us know during the initial consultation stage and we can incorporate one for you. However, we would recommend checking the permitted development rights because this can have an impact on these.
