Frequently Asked Questions
We spend between 6 and 8 weeks on the construction stage of our timber garden rooms. This is the main stage in our 6-stage process, and it involves a team of garden room specialists laying the foundations, creating the structure, installing the insulation, plumbing and electrics, and finally painting the building. It’s a specialist task and one that we have mastered over the years.

You will not normally need planning permission for garden buildings, but there are some rules to follow. For example, it must be a single-storey building, and the maximum height of the eaves is 2.5 metres. The maximum overall height is 3 metres, but if it has a dual-pitched roof, the maximum is 4 metres. There are a few other requirements to meet, but please ask us if you are unsure.

Building a brick building in your garden may be something that you can do on your own, as long as you have the right skills. The main cost will be the bricks and mortar, and the cost could range from a few thousand pounds to a lot more depending on the size of your building, insulation and features. Our garden rooms typically cost between £23,000 and £35,000 depending on the design.

Garden rooms do not typically require building regulations approval. However, if you want a larger garden room that goes over the specified size limits, planning permission will be required. If you have a listed property, the requirements are stricter. If your property is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you may also need approval before putting up a garden room.
