Maintenance FAQs
Will my building require any maintenance?
Your building will require no maintenance at all unless you wish to oil your timber cladding. This oiling is not necessary and is a personal preference, but it will help prevent oxidation, which turns the timber a silvery grey. Other than this though there is no maintenance required. If you want to oil your building we recommend a UV protective oil.
What warranty comes with my building?
We provide you with an insurance backed 10 year guarantee.
All materials such as windows and doors, flooring, lights etc come with their own manufacturers warranties.
What warranty is provided?
All our garden rooms, offices and studios come with a peace of mind 10-year structural warranty.
What is the lifespan of a garden room?

What maintenance is required on the wooden cladding?
All of our garden rooms with natural wood exteriors are designed not to require any form of maintenance or staining. Cedar wood, larch and thermowood will all weather down naturally. If, however, you wish to preserve the colour, then we would always recommend a UV protection oil is used.
What maintenance is required on the wood cladding?
None! Our standard Canadian Redwood cladding is slow-grown and pressure treated, so will not require any maintenance.
Over time the wood will start to silver off, however, if you want to change the colour then you can do so with a water based UV oil or wood stain.
What is the lifespan of a ITTGR garden room?
Our garden room buildings are designed to last for over 25 years and come with a 10-year structural guarantee.

Do I need to treat the cedar cladding?
Cedar will last for decades without any artificial treatment however, over time, UV light will bleach the colour leaving the timber a silver/grey colour. Many people prefer the ‘silver’ appearance. The amount of time this process takes is dependent on location and exposure to the sun. UV filter treatments are available that will stop or slow down this process.
Do you provide a warranty for my garden room?
Most of our garden rooms are signed off to building control standards so you can be assured that we are building to safe and high standards. Not only this, but your garden room or garden studio will come complete with a ten year warranty.
We believe in only using the highest, most durable materials for our garden rooms, therefore meaning a ITTGR garden room will also come with a life expectancy of a minimum of 25 years. ITTGR garden rooms are built for life, whether it be a home office for you now, or guest accommodation later.
What guarantee do you provide?
All ITTGR garden rooms are installed by professional fitting teams and come with a 10-year structural guarantee. You can enjoy your garden room safe in the knowledge that it’s built to last
Do I need to treat the cedar cladding?
Because of naturally occurring chemicals in the wood, there’s no need to treat external cedar cladding. As with all-natural products, cedar cladding will age and change appearance over time. In most areas of the UK, this will mean untreated cedar cladding will weather to a dark grey colour. You can if you wish to use stains, preservatives and other wood treatments for cosmetic reasons. The original colour of external cladding can be maintained by treating it with a UV blocker
How long will your garden rooms last?
Our garden room buildings are designed to last for at least 25 years and come with a 10-year structural guarantee. It’s important that you maintain the cladding on your room.
Will my garden room come with a guarantee?
Yes, all our garden rooms come with a 10-year structural guarantee.
Will I have to carry out any routine maintenance on the studio office?
Cleaning the studio with a hose, water and brush is enough. If you have trees nearby the guttering at the rear will need clearing on occasions.

WILL WE CLEAN THE BUILDING?
Yes, we always leave our buildings ready for you to move your furniture straight in. All frames and glass is thoroughly cleaned.

Very Pleased – We engaged with Into The Garden Room shortly after we moved house. We wanted a space where we could build an office for remote working. We contacted Paul who visited us and sent us a proposal with costings. When we were ready to commence the team turned up on time, worked hard, and were both polite and professional.
