Our summer houses are suitable for a wide range of budgets, and the cost depends on the size and design of the building. As a general guide, you can expect to pay between £23,000 and £35,000 for a summer house when you order one from us.

Can you soundproof a shed?

Yes, many of our customers want their garden rooms soundproofed, so this is something we can do so you can use your garden room as a home cinema or music studio. But please let us know early on so we can incorporate soundproofing into the design. We usually apply soundproofing during construction using a damping material such as plasterboard inside the walls.

What size armoured cable do you need for a garden office?

Many people want to use electrical items in their garden rooms. When it comes to the size of the armoured cable for a garden office, this will depend on the overall expected power consumption. But this is a specialist area that you may want to discuss with your electrician.

Can I use my shed as a gym?

Absolutely! While sheds might be a bit small, when you order a garden room from us, you can use it for almost any purpose, including a garden gym. Our garden rooms are strong enough to be used for gym equipment, and we can even fit out your room with a changing room and shower if you want.

Do you need planning permission for log cabins?

For most log cabins, you do not need to get planning permission, as long as the building meets certain requirements. For example, the log cabin must be less than 10m2 and the height of the eaves should be 2.5 metres or lower. There are other rules, however, and we will be happy to advise you on whether you will need planning permission for your garden room based on the design.

Can you legally live in a log cabin permanently?

Our log cabins and garden rooms are comfortable enough to live in, but there are a few rules to be aware of. If you want to live in the garden room or use it as a permanent bedroom, you will need to apply for planning permission because it will no longer fall under the rules for a permitted development.

How big can a garden building be?

Garden buildings come in all shapes and sizes, and you can choose the size that suits you best. However, there are a few upper limits to be aware of if you don’t want to apply for planning permission. For example, the overall height should be no more than 3 metres, but it can be 4 metres for a dual-pitched roof. Also, the maximum size should be no more than 10m2. The best thing to do is ask us during the design stage and we will let you know whether you are likely to need planning permission.
